Tout oppose en apparence Fear in a Handful of Dust et Long Stories, le premier étant placé sous le signe du conflit, de la dualité — qui était annoncée dès la pochette et confirmée par le choc entre les notes erratiques et l'ambiant calme — tandis que le second est une collection de berceuses contées avec de l'IDM ambiant. Mais en réalité, ces deux opus se rejoignent car, dans les deux cas, Amon Tobin veut créer un pur moment d'harmonie et surtout une harmonie fabriquées avec ce qui est cassé...
